Exodus 14:13
And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.
There are times in life where each of us find ourselves in situations that appear to be hopeless. I’m specifically talking about circumstances where unless there’s a miracle, all will be loss. In those times we feel trapped, defeated, deflated and totally vulnerable. The truth is we are vulnerable. We are in dire need of rescue and help beyond what we can produce for ourselves. Helplessness is the very worst feeling to have to live with, but there are times when, live with it, we must. And it’s for this very reason, times of crisis and great stress are the worst times for a Child of God to make independent decisions and arbitrary moves. When all hell is going on in our lives, the very best thing to do is stand still, and see what God is going to do about it.
The absolute worst thing to do when life is overwhelming is to stress, become frightened and place unwarranted energy on problems beyond our ability to eliminate. The emotional capital invested in useless pursuits will only drain our faith and deplete our anointing. The better thing to do is firmly stand on the word, promises and the leading of the Lord. Focus on God and not the problem. Stand still, and see!
The challenge of focus is directly proportional to our individual level of faith. As much as we sing faith, preach faith, pray and prophesy faith, faith is best activated in the midst of trouble. It’s easy to proclaim faith when everything is going just fine. It sounds wonderful to testify of faith when you have an abundance of money in the bank. Faith is easy when you’re healthy, strong, prosperous and happy. But what happens to your faith when you’re standing at the Red Sea? Where is your focus when certain death is in front of you and an army behind you ready to cut you down? How does your faith stack up against those odds?
To the Children of Israel, it undoubtedly seemed that their most urgent problem was the Egyptian army heading toward them. I can only imagine that all their focus was on the army. The Red Sea was a huge impediment, but the army was the main source of stress and anxiety. But to God neither the army or Red Sea were issues. He had the power to deal with both. The most pressing issue in this scenario were the Israelites. Their reluctance to move, their stubbornness to believe and rebellious nature were much more formidable to the plans of the Lord than any army or body of water. And sadly, those same attributes are common among us today.
God not only wanted Israel to leave Egypt, but to leave the Egyptian way of life behind as well. It’s not enough just to physically come to God, but he requires your heart, soul, mind and strength as well. God can do the miracle you need, but are you ready to move on from where you now stand and go to the promised land?
To take you to a place you’ve never been, God will have to take you from that place you’ve become so familiar with. Most of us don’t mind God vanquishing and destroying our enemies, but we want him to do that while we still live in enemy territory. We want God to Amazon our blessings to us instead of us reaching the destination where the promise resides.
People of Faith, God is taking us out of enemy territory to new territories and leaving the enemy in the place where we used to live. Very often we don’t want to go where God has for us to go to get the blessings he has for us because the wilderness is scary. But it’s the only way to the promise. So after we stand still and see the miracle God is performing for us, let’s go see what miracles are on the other side.
God Bless
