Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
“A wise man once said, ‘You go no place by accident.’ From a theological perspective, this quote magnifies the absolute truth that God is sovereign over all creation; and time is a critical component to His sovereignty being revealed to mankind.” That’s what we’re going to talk about this morning…God’s sovereignty, God’s timing and God’s revealed purpose in you. In no way am I claiming to be a prophet, but this morning I want to make the following prophetic declaration. War against the Children of God is coming. And coming very soon. We must be ready to defend ourselves. Moreover, we must be able to defend the kingdom.
We’ve lived in a season of relative spiritual peace and tranquillity for quite some time now. Most of our lives we’ve had the privilege of being inspired by wonderful sermons, basking in incredible worship, and feasting on extraordinary praise. The enemy has launched small, but mostly ineffective attacks. Because of that, we’ve been on sort of a spiritual battle hiatus. And I have to say this because recently, our demeanor and overall attitudes don’t match our calling in Christ Jesus. You do remember we are soldiers, right? We’ve been drafted into the army of Christ to fight. Well, I’m here this morning sounding the reveille. Wake up Church. War has been declared, and the enemy is coming right for us.
Our scripture today speaks to several vital concepts wrapped in one extraordinary word: Sovereignty. Your selection, election, calling and purpose was long ago determined and established by the sovereign will of God. God decided he wanted you. You were born on purpose, to live in purpose, to fulfill God’s purpose. But purpose alone doesn’t win the war. Your purpose must be in alignment with God’s timing. What you’ve been created to produce has a time, place and season.
Let me see if I can clarify this. We’ve established you have purpose (even if you don’t know exactly what it is). But you’ve been waiting for the right time to activate and operate in your anointed place. And that’s where the Spirit of God comes in. The prophetic voice speaks to the warriors of God concerning seasons. As we recognize our time, we must discern what season the Church is in. And in the office of the prophetic I announce we are going from a season of rest to a season of war. We need warriors now.
We started in 2020 with prayer warriors. That has continued. But there’s more that needs to come. Prayer prepares us for battle, but obedience places us on the battlefield. Each soldier must be strategically positioned, adequately armed, and totally supported. The enemy is coming. He plans on taking back his territory. We’ve got to do more than sing and dance. We have to be ready to respond to every heavy blow, every disappointment, every onslaught and war crime. Spiritual warfare is not for the fearful and faint of heart.
Dear Christian Soldier, hear my heart this morning. Your special gift, talent and spiritual skill is needed now more than ever. We must be prepared to deal with things we’ve never dreamed we’d have to encounter. We’re ushering in a season like none other. It will take the Church to be stronger than it’s ever been.
I know what you’re thinking. He’s not a prophet. And you’re right. But, ‘Even A Broken Watch Is Correct Twice A Day’.
God Bless
